The Couture Active Wear (CAW) internship program offers positions in the spring, summer, fall and winter. Our goal is to provide students and/or graduates with a unique educational opportunity, utilizing real hands on experience from actual design concepts, office management, and marketing programs within a small multifaceted business environment. These internships will provide broad exposure to all facets of design, graphic production, and office management in a busy small business atmosphere.
Internship Program Description
An intern is someone that works for free in exchange for experience working in the industry and building his/her resume and portfolio with real world experience. We currently have Internships available for Graphic Artists, Web Designers, Marketing/PR, Administration, & Fashion/Fitness.
Administration
Administration interns work with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word and Publisher. Interns will be responsible for Web Base Sales, processing & shipping orders, website testing, i.e., looking for errors and checking functionality. This position will be responsible for assisting the Office Manager. Daily activities include reviewing and responding to email and returning prospective wholesale phone calls. Interns will also be expected to cross-train in other departments.
Marketing/PR
Marketing/PR interns can expect to be involved in all aspects of marketing, individual program marketing, like, service line, corporate, and community marketing events; sales, planning and implementation of various campaigns, and the day-to-day operations of the Marketing and Sales Department. Daily activities include providing customer service via email and telephone, personal communications with customers and potential wholesale venders and performing basic clerical duties. Marketing/PR interns report to the Office Manager. Administrative duties would include printing, data entry, press kit assembly, entering new client data, sales data and maintaining client records. The intern, therefore, must be familiar with Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Word and Publisher.
Fashion
Fashion interns can expect to be involved in any and all aspects of working with the Fashion designer in a small workroom environment. Tasks would include internet research, sourcing and pricing of fabrics, metal work, notions and trims, organizing and cataloging workroom supplies and tracking samples to and from fashion editors at magazines. It is a terrific opportunity to get real hands on experience doing everything involved in putting together a small collection in addition to running the operation.
Graphics
Graphic Interns will work with the graphic/sales/marketing departments in creating/modifying ads and laying out designs; working in Illustrator and Photoshop to create ads and layout stories; assist in creating Magazine covers, email blast ads, website designs, catalog layout, photo shoots and various promotional material; use creative graphic skills to advertise print layouts and graphics and design brochures, booklets, posters and similar types of informational materials. Must be able to follow directions, work in a timely manner and independently. Most of all an intern must be very creative. Intern should have knowledge of laying out copy, ability to work in a PC based environment. The intern's duties would include following established standards by ensuring proper headlines, sub headers, captions, and tag lines; scanning in photos and photo manipulation; locating files, saving files in right area; and meeting established deadlines and facilitate proofing.
